Leader: We have gathered in the name of the Lord. What is your response?
People: Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with
Leader: Why do you give this time to the Lord?
People: We know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his: we are his people, the
sheep of his pasture.
Leader: How will you worship the Lord?
People: We will enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; we will give thanks and
praise his holy name.
Leader: Why have we come here today?
People: The Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all
generations. Today we come to celebrate the gift of a new pastor to lead this
congregation. Thanks be to God.

Clayton A Lord Jr., having been ordained a minister of Jesus Christ and having accepted the call of the
Central Baptist Church of Westerly, Rhode Island, to become its pastor, do you solemnly pledge that you
will serve this congregation to the best of your ability, in keeping with your sacred vows of ordination?
Dr. Lord: I do.
I charge you to be a good minister of Jesus Christ, remembering that like our Lord, you came “not to be
served, but to serve.” Will you seek to practice daily the faith you profess, proclaim the truth in love,
and endeavor to lead this people in the vitalizing service of Jesus Christ as Lord?
